Introducing 014 - Nadine Shah

Je ne sombrerai pas pour toi,
Jusqu’au fond de la nuit
Quand un nouveau jour m’attend
Une nouvelle vie.
— Ville morose (Nadine Shah)
I’m not gonna follow
You to the ground,
When there’s greener pastures
Waiting to be found
— Dreary Town (Nadine Shah)

Name: Nadine Shah

Representation: EMI North

Music style: Jazz infused indie rock, with elements of folk, punk (maybe?), and everything else one could possibly integrate into music

Background: A whirlwind of a presence who has stood as a pillar of the music industry since 2012, Nadine Shah has released four full studio albums, a plethora of singles, and twenty music videos, the direction of which could be attributed to Alfred Hitchcock for their imagery and shadow play. With each release she reinvents herself entirely, shedding light on matters of mental health and social turbulence, combining art, personal release, and power for positive change.

Traits: Each of Nadine’s songs stands tall as a masterpiece, so rich and dramatic in its textures and composition, it is almost theatrical. With lyrics formed in the furnace of her creative mind and set alight by the fire of her performance and presence, Nadine’s music burns bright, art and life in one.

Recent Work: Nadine recently released the single “Topless Mother” - a melodic canvas inspired by conversations with her therapist - a preview of her upcoming fifth album Filthy Underneath, set to come out in February 2024. The single, upcoming album and the rest of her discography, are available on Spotify, and anywhere else you enjoy your music.

Although not a recent piece, I would like to make special mention of Nadine’s haunting masterpiece “Ville morose”, a piercing French translation of her song “Dreary Town”, which celebrates a choice made to leave when caught in detriment.
