Introducing 010 - Mehalah Ray

I’m gonna be baby blue,
for me,
not for you.
— Baby Blue (Mehalah Ray)

Name: Mehalah Ray

Music style: Meditative folk-pop melodies

Background: Cambridge native, Mehalah began sharing her original melodies and making a name for herself on the stages of the Cantabrigian music scene at but 14 years of age. Since then her music has been featured on radio shows, including multiple replays on BBC Introducing, has enjoyed delivery by means of an ever-expanding variety of stages, including The Social’s Communion Music, and has even been featured in Chalkpit Cassette Club’s Next Wave magazine - with Mehalah’s music featured among “40 minutes of unmissable new music”.

Traits: Lyricist and composer, Mehalah pulls us into a world of human connection and rupture, of personal growth, of partners we’re better of without and friends we’re better of with. A voice that warms and soothes, guitar strums that enchant, Mehalah’s is a world we’re lucky to be a part of.

Recent Work: Recently Mehalah released her new single “Funny Bones”, available in its calming, catchy and slightly sarcastic entirety on Spotify. Perhaps yours will be a different interpretation, but in my case the song recalls the all too familiar sigh of relief expelled after spending a little too much time with someone who thinks a little too highly of themselves, of their sense of humour - and of their ‘funny bones’.
